Natural Approaches for Cold & Flu Season

October 12, 6:00-9:00 pm, at The Wellspring in Wooster, Ohio

You know those dreaded symptoms that sometimes sneak up on you as the weather cools down?

  • Maybe you’re throat feels just a little dry and tight.
  • Your breathing might feel a little stuffy and congested.
  • You might even get hit with some fever and body aches.

Cold and flu season might come around every year, but you don’t have to be caught off guard.

Our fall community dinner is here to help. We’ll give you simple ideas on boosting your immune system for better health all season long, as well as options for managing symptoms when you’re not feeling your best.

Your Evening With Us

When you join us, you’ll experience a delicious and nourishing catered dinner from Deb Geiser of Quince Catering while you soak in the scenery at The Wellspring, a beautiful event venue in Wooster.

Your gluten-free meal will feature local and organic ingredients. While you eat, you’ll enjoy live piano music and encouraging conversations with old and new friends.

Then, you’ll enjoy short, helpful presentations on how to stay well when sickness is going around.

  • Lori Bryant will share her best tips on eating for a healthy immune system. She knows how tough this can be, especially around busy holidays when there’s sugar everywhere. But she knows it’s possible and will help you find ways to do it.
  • Kristen Smith will demonstrate how to make her family’s favorite cold and flu remedy: Fire Cider. You can make this flexible kitchen remedy with ingredients from your average grocery store and customize it to fit your family’s taste.
  • Finally, you’ll hear from a soon-to-be-announced speaker who will share other helpful ways to deal with symptoms when you’re not feeling well.

And, in true Seeking Whole Health Style, we’ll have some fun surprises waiting for you, too!

Our Menu

You’re going to love the delicious, nourishing food we have prepared for your evening! We’re finalizing our menu now, but our summer Community Dinner guests enjoyed quite the feast!

Their meal started with a fermented vegetable slaw over mixed greens with lemon vinaigrette (sprouted spelt croutons on the side).

Then, they settled into a delectable dinner of seared pastured chicken bruschetta, brown rice pilaf, and farmers’ market vegetables. Our vegan option was a tasty roasted cauliflower steak with the bruschetta topping.

And because healthy eating can still be fun, we didn’t forget dessert. Date caramel and apple parfaits with oatmeal crumble and dark chocolate brownies with chocolate frosting ended our evening. Yum!

Our Community Dinner food will be

  • Gluten-free, with sprouted flour or sourdough items on the side and clearly labeled
  • Soy-free
  • Pasture-raised
  • Organically-grown
  • Naturally sweetened with honey, maple syrup, dates, or coconut sugar
  • Vegetable oil-free

If you have additional dietary needs, just make a note of them when you check out with your ticket. We’re happy to accommodate you!

FAQs

Yes! All of our dinners are gluten-free to accommodate one of the most common dietary restrictions our guests have. But we’ll also have dairy-free and vegan options available and are happy to work out a solution for you if you have additional needs. Feel free to contact us here if you have questions about your food restrictions.

Older children might enjoy our dinner, but younger kids will probably be bored. We won’t have childcare or a kids’ table available, so you’ll probably enjoy your evening better if your little ones stay with a trusted caregiver. All children will need a ticket.

Yes! In fact, that’s one of the reasons we created these Community Dinners. When’s the last time dinner and a movie offered you the chance to eat healthy food that tastes great, talk about things that are important to you, and meet new, likeminded friends?
